Just tried to connect to IRC again and can't.
Then I found this article: http://geminianeyes.com/?p=7465
Apparently my ISP has decided to block port 6667-6669 Not sure for what stupid reason, but I suspect the anti-piracy numbskulls has something to do with it
I found I can connect using port 6670, but who knows how long this will last...
As for why I'm connecting, I just got hold on an article on bots in a Linux magazine and am intrigued by the idea of having a bot-war: having two Chatterbot AIs talk to each other and watch the room light up with hilarious phrases.

Have you tried irc.strawberryland.eu:6670#strawberryland?
As for the blocked ports, I think they might have done it being that warez is also traded on IRC using those channels.

I remember that I had to use a certain IRC port while attending DSU, probably because DSU blocked the popular IRC ports in an effort to keep out virus attacks.

huckleberrypie Wrote:Have you tried irc.strawberryland.eu:6670#strawberryland? Well, as I said, 6670 works, but who knows how long before it gets shafted by the ISP too.

I think it could be due to a recent article about how IRC is becoming a popular source for warez. However, it could also be a misguided attempt at blocking trojan horses who also use IRC

Have you also prepared for new year?
Thank you!
We're too tired to do anything special for this new year. We're just going to stay in.

Ugh, head hurts...
Well, at least we survived past December 21st.
2012 wasn't a good year for me, hope 2013 is...

Well, I spent this New Years Eve going to the local bowling alley and knocking down some pins in a bowling Monte Carlo game with my folks.
We were done two hours before midnight, so, when I got home, I fired up Animal Crossing about a half hour before midnight, and I celebrated the new year with AC City Folk and my virtual town of "Birdwell". Not too many showed up for the Mayor's countdown display, but Birdwell must have invested hordes of bells in fireworks. Fireworks continued for nearly half an hour before I saved and quit.
Here is the funny thing. After the festivities, I decided to go to the city to see if any New Years things were going on there.
There were no New Years parties, or fireworks, or anything!! The city was dead.
Oh, and I need to start refraining from expressing my political opinions on Facebook. Though I do express them without acting like a lunatic, I sometimes end up burning bridges between other people I know.
