The Spam Thread!
Well, Wendell apparently doesn't like VectorLinux. I start up KDE, and right after a fresh install, I get several background processes crashing, resulting in no panel and window borders. Sad

After some thought, I decided to just put Wendell back with Windows 7 Home Premium...so I can reinstate my file server. Jasper was my file server last year, but when I went back to DSU, I had to turn file sharing off because of the dorm network.

I'll see how this goes....if it works out well, and if I figure out Samba so Lilly can see Wendell, I may upgrade his HDD to a 7,200rpm higher capacity drive.

Assholes who do NOT know street safety should NOT be allowed on the street. Bunch of idiots crossed the road when the light was green, light turned red after they crossed. Furious at those shitheads that I scratched my car while parking because I had to fight with another car for parking.

Not only that, I broke the steering wheel when I had to slam on the brakes and press the horn >.<

Ow. Just...ow.

Now I'm being reminded of nearly getting run over by someone while going to the hospital for a doctor's appointment one time. It was at the IHS hospital on the reservation, and as I was crossing, someone came driving up really fast that I had to run to the other side.

On one hand, I should have been looking for cars (and I usually do, can't remember if I did look around in this case), but on the other hand, said driver came speeding up as I was about halfway through the crosswalk, suggesting the driver may have been distracted. The driver should have seen me clearly.

Alright, Windows is back on...later on, finish installing Windows Updates, remove non-essential software (such as WildTangent Games, Norton, etc), and get my files synced to him. I keep copies of Screencaps and Music present on all my computers. Video files are optional, but those are with Lilly.

One thing I could never get working right under Linux is Wendell's ELAN Touchpad. It didn't work with any Linux I tried on him. Mandriva/PCLinuxOS detected it as a Generic PS/2 Wheel Mouse..which is strange.

I guess Synaptics touchpads are more popular. Chrysanthemum's was a Synaptics, and it worked wonderfully with Linux. I didn't know there were other touchpad makers until I got Wendell. Wendell and Greta both have ELAN Touchpads.

Well, Elan is a newer brand, but gaining popularity fast. Even Violette II has an Elan touchpad. You need a very recent version of Xorg and the SynapticsTouchpad driver to have an Elan touchpad work properly. That may be something VectorLinux doesn't have yet.

Just managed to upgrade my OS X install to Lion. At least it now works fine as it should be. Might have to patch it to a later version, though.
