The Spam Thread!

Because my Viewsonic VA905 formed some dead pixels on the screen. Not sure if it can be repaired.

Can't use a AL1716W I had because apparently ATI Rage Pro and S3 Savage3D cards can't handle widescreen resolutions :/

The Viewsonic has dead pixels? How many?

I probably wouldn't replace a monitor myself if it formed dead pixels. If Greta or Wendell ever get them, I may just have to deal with it. If the dead pixels became too numerous though...such as over 10, then it may warrant replacement, but just a few? I think I can live with it.

The only LCD that I have owned that had dead pixels was my first portable DVD player. It just had one bright dead pixel, but it didn't affect viewing of movies that much.

EDIT: Isn't it possible to fix the dead pixels with these perhaps?

Enough to form a huge noticeable ugly botch on the screen.

NYC is more exciting though. I hope that one day I can go to NYC because South Dakota can get boring sometimes....especially in a small town like mine.

It wasn't my decision. It was my in-laws' voted decision.

I'm so glad to hear this!

Wow, I don't think I like the [Flag] and [One Click Ban] buttons. What if someone presses those by accident?

Another reason why I may shy away from Windows 8.....

No more Windows Aero. To some, it's unecessary eye candy, but to me, it's very useful. Windows 8 will get rid of the transparency and shadow effects for the desktop portion. It looks....flat....like Metro.

And...I still can't get over the fact on how MS wants all computers running Windows 8 to use Metro, which fares better on tablets.

Even though I may never upgrade Greta or Wendell to Windows 8, that doesn't rule out the possibility of getting a Windows 8 tablet.

Another reason for some to: either switch to Linux, OS X via Hackintosh or buying a real Mac, or still stick to Windows 7 or even XP.
