I have finally found the perfect TV set...

RCA TruFlat TV from 2004 by cpd2005, on Flickr

It's an RCA Brand "TruFlat" TV set made in August 2004. I found it at a second hand store, and the person who had it before me took very good care of it. In fact, said person had two of these TVs, and there is still another one at that store in similar good condition. Once I saw this on display at the store, and saw the picture quality, I had to get it. My old Console TV worked good enough, but the picture could be better if it wasn't for a light sensor that you can't disable. The old set didn't have any AV inputs in it though, and the best picture I could get out of it was through an RF modulator hooked up to my VCR's composite video output. The new set has composite AV inputs (two of them in fact), so the RF box is no longer needed.

Here is a video of it running, showing off a neat power down/power on effect. I was going to embed it here, but Flickr for some reason won't give me the BBCode, so I have to provide a direct link.

I love foxes, especially the one in my avatar.

Ugh, that was a nasty prank. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

That's open to interpretation. Mrs. Gulch was riding her bicycle, then the Witch of the East was riding her broom, and Dorothy's house fell down on the Witch of the East. The Witch of the West then tried to avenge her fallen twin. The Witches of the East and West were played by the same actress. Glinda was the Good Witch of the North.

Oh, ewwww, I think it could be implied that Mrs. Gulch was actually killed under Dorothy's house.

Ewwww.

Well, anyway, I am actually disappointed that I cannot find maternity costumes of the Wicked Witch for Halloween. I guess I'll have to wait until next year for that costume and dress as something else this year. I found costumes, just no maternity costumes for the character. I don't know why there aren't any. They would be easy enough to make - alas, I'm not feeling well enough to make a costume myself - and I doubt I'm the first pregnant woman to look for this type of costume. The actress who played the witch was raising her little boy (whom she loved very much and was worried about frightening) when the movie was made.

Oh, speaking of maternity wear, this shirt makes no sense:

Why would someone wearing this shirt be alone? She is never alone, the opposite of forever alone! Why is there a cat? Did the people who created this shirt understand English?!

Thank you.

Well, the version I saw had a crossfade effect that transforms Mrs Gulch into the witch, so I guess poetic justice did happen and Mrs. Gulch got what's coming to her.

Agreed. Normally this phrase is used with the trollface ( this: Troll ).

I like to think if it as the antithesis of Tyler Collin's Never Alone. Just like how Boulevard of Broken Dreams is the antithesis of You'll Never Walk Alone.

This gives me an idea- I need to find the antithesis of Nothing Lasts Forever. Maybe Diamonds Are Forever? The Beach Boys' Forever? Duke Nukem Forever?

There are ugly trollface FOREVER ALONE maternity shirts, too. I am so confused. The only thing I can think of would be single mothers giving their children up for adoption. That's just sad, though, and wearing those shirts would be asking for awkward questions.

Well, with regards to my last comment to Kiwi and also with regards to FOREVER ALONE, James' birth father is... insane. He might as well have had his memory erased after he, fearing responsibility, abandoned Jackie before their son was even born. After James grew up, he was able to find his father and his father's reaction to having a long-lost son was... erm, interesting. He wanted James to help him with his construction work, so James did, and then one day James' father never showed up for work and couldn't be reached on his phone. Years later, James found him again and lost him again. This continues to go on, and it will probably go on until his father dies.

I've spoken to Mr. Forever Alone once, over the phone, in early 2009. He was in a little country, Bahrain, at the time. He told us very silly lies about how he was in love with the Princess of Bahrain, whom he said he met in a bar, and how the princess's dozens and dozens of guards in limousines chased him and chased him and chased him after finding out about him being with the princess, and how he ran on foot and outran those limousines (despite a body shape taller yet very similar to his son's), and how the kingdom's secret service chased him right into the palace and he became best friends with the king and how he was allegedly having tea with the King of Bahrain while talking to us on the phone, and how he was the new Prime Minister of Bahrain. Of course he is not. I'm sure none of what he told us happened.

Realistic Translation: "I'm drunk in Bahrain!"

It was soooooo... well, I laughed a great deal. James was clearly annoyed during the conversation. After it ended, James said his father always talks like that. Good grief.

Do they even have bars in Bahrain?

According to the stage version of The Wizard of Oz, Mrs. Gulch was badly injured in the tornado. She was shook up, not smashed to death under a house. Instead, she recovered and became a nicer person.

They do. He was calling from one, judging from the background noises.

Ummmm, Sandy, I'm really sorry about that silliness I just gave you!

"Helloooooooo" was for keeping everything in order!

Hosting websites must hate Gladys. It took me several tries to get one image uploaded the way I wanted.

When did she make that kind expression? I can't remember and can't check the episodes right now.

She's surprised that Glinda is going to battle her without a wand.

This is my first attempt at the color wheel meme.

I couldn't find a blank purple background that I liked. Yes, this looks terrible with two watermarks from two websites. I don't have any type of image programs and wouldn't know how to work them if I did.

Apparently, his brain is represented by confused fish going around in circles. Sounds accurate enough.

He calls everyone by the long versions of their names, if they have long versions. Dee is Dee Anna, Cleo is Cleopatra, Pat is Patricia, and so forth. In odd contrast, he calls me Prue, and he goes by Ben instead of Benjamin. I didn't know how to word my being an exception to the rule, too. It's sillier that he himself is an exception. He wants to give his children long fancy names, like Leonardo and Copernicus. He vetoed Clark because he declared it far too short, as he says short names do not sound impressive ...

... and yet what he goes by has less letters than Clark!

By the way, Kiwi, I'm speaking of my brother, not my husband. My husband's name is James, and so is our (eldest?) son's name. I suppose my husband and son could go by one of the Spanish versions of their name, Santiago, for an "impressive" name. The thought has not crossed anyone's mind other than mine, probably. I'm our family's language and history geek. My brother actually asked me and his wife, while they were naming their daughter, if Athena (the Greek goddess of war) was the goddess of beauty.
