I also decided to get a PCI Wifi card for Patsy off eBay so I can do away with the rather flimsy USB Wifi dongle.

I assume you're going to install those on the AMD rig, yes?
Yeah. I thought you already knew. Wink

Long time without any updates on the good ol' spam thread. Let me fix that, as usual...

Upgrades have been completed for Ruby. She now has the Corsair CX430 and MSI GeForce 750Ti GPU. I also installed the PCI Wifi card for Patsy. Wifi has been far more reliable as a result. I also brought Greta out from her slumber to run Windows Updates. She still has Win7 and I would like her to run Win10. I may attempt another free upgrade today since it appears the newest Nvidia drivers help fix some of the issues that plagued my earlier Win10 attempt... namely the GeForce 710m constantly activating itself for no real reason.

In gaming news, I acquired Mighty No. 9 from Walmart recently and began playing it yesterday. So far, it seems decent. The control scheme is easy to learn and simple and the graphics are rather good for a Wii U game. The voice isn't the greatest though. After playing through Mighty No. 9, I will start on something more retro... Mr. Nutz for the Super NES.

I do have some SSC related news. I purchased three SSC coloring books from Dollar Tree last week. When I am able to, I will go ahead and get pics of those books into the Merchandise sub-forum.

Wonder how games would fare with Ruby. The G3258 as used on my Ruthie is twice as fast as Ruby's Athlon afaik, but it still has this disadvantage of having only two cores, as some games like GTA V benefit more from more cores/threads as what I can attest when I upgraded to Windows 10.

Mighty No. 9 isn't really all that bad, it's that it seems more or less like an ObviousBeta from what I've watched over at Digital Foundry where screen-space reflections take a toll on the game's framerate.

Haven't seen anything much that's SSC-related, though I did chance upon an American Girl book at a used book shop. Too bad it isn't a Historical or a Girl of the Year book though, but rather an advice book on middle schoolers.

Greta has Windows 10... again. So far, it seems that the new Nvidia drivers have fixed the issues that plagued the original upgrade last fall. Optimus isn't activating itself even after sleep. Let's see if this pattern will hold out....

Also, someone actually did end up taking MS to court after her business computer took an automatic Win10 upgrade and nearly became unusable, apparently requiring a new computer. Honestly, the woman could have just taken the PC over to a repair shop and had the original OS and software re-installed. On the other hand, I sense she may be Apple's newest customer....

I'm surprised no one has brought up a class action suit against the pushy updates. Win10 is a fine system IMO, but it doesn't agree with every computer out there. MS could have thought better with the "Get Windows 10" tool and made it so it only asks once, and doesn't download it until you say so.

Enticing people to upgrade is one thing; shoving Windows 10 up everyone's throats is insanity.

Still progressing through Mighty No 9, and I may be in the minority here... I think the game is fun. When I fail to clear a stage or defeat a boss, I get the urge to try again until I succeed. That is the mark of a fun, challenging game for me. Smile

In fact, I wonder if people will look back at Mighty No 9 as a hidden gem 10 to 20 years from now, despite all of it's issues and Development Hell? As it stands, the Wii U port is stable thanks to the patch, and the only things I can hold against it are the unpolished framerate and occasional audio hiccups.

Was Mighty No 9 overhyped? Yes it was. And a lot of people were disappointed with the final result of the kickstarter, which could have been handled better. I didn't back the game during development, so perhaps I'm biased for trying the game on release rather than relying on Kickstarter promises. If it was the other way around, maybe I wouldn't have been so kind to the game. Who knows?

I'm about to hook up Patsy's old AOC 1080p monitor to Ruby so I can accurately test both PC's gaming capabilities side by side. I will use the latest 3DMark and Unigine benchmark programs. While they do that, I shall get in some more Mighty No. 9.

I also need to reinstall Corel PaintShopPro too.

Okay... side by side testing done. And, Ruby is just a tad bit lower in score than Patsy.

It isn't a surprise for Ruby to garner a lower score anyway, given the processor and all.
