Regarding the previously mentioned "Close on startup" game, this morning I tried reinstalling the entire game from scratch, then updated the GPU driver into the latest version (14.something). Just to make sure, I also updated the GPU driver of my PC as well so we have the same driver version.

The result? Still no change. The game worked on my PC while closes immediately on his PC. I ran out of Idea now.

Well, the only thing I can think of is something is seriously messed up with his PC. Try reinstalling Windows?

Well... I finally went ahead and tested Linux with Pablo and Greta... and both passed with flying colors. Thus, I am switching back to Linux for my everyday OS. It's been an adventure though....

First off, I tried Linux Mint 17. Works 'swell on Pablo and Audrey. I then tried openSUSE with Greta. I got her Nvidia Optimus setup to work, and they even have the older KDE 3.5!! But I ran into some issues. The HDD had too aggressive power management causing very frequent spin ups and spin downs, and KDE 3.5 doesn't have power management at all. Odd seeing as how KDE 3.5 has been officially supported since openSUSE 12.

But, there is Trinity, a modernized fork of KDE 3.5, and it's available for Ubuntu-based systems. I'm now getting ready to setup Lubuntu as a base and go from there. Installing Trinity in Linux Mint yields a working TDE, but breaks Cinnamon horribly.

As for Lilly, she will remain with OSX and Windows, but I am trying to get a Vista or XP VM setup for the Adobe programs.

I should have just went with PCLinuxOS all along, and I should have learned there is a Trinity Desktop remaster available sooner. All is fine now with Greta. Power management works correctly. Optimus was a bit tricky but after I figured everything out and got the drivers installed, it works like a charm.

Here is the desktop and some sample apps for you. Background wallpaper is from here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4379073/

The Why am I even bothering with this? I hope I won't regret this project.

During the past week with the forum down, I discovered the power of VirtualBox, and I also fount out I shouldn't have been so harsh with Linux and FOSS software. I might not agree with some of RMS/FSF opinions, but that shouldn't turn me away from Linux. Greta, Audrey, and Pablo run so much better now because of it. Smile

As for VirtualBox, currently testing the PCLOS Trinity remaster to see if it's feasable to update to the latest TDE Release, R14. Yeah... they jumped from 3.5 to R14. They are making progress on making TDE it's own brand, and I just have to activate the updated repo.

I'm also trying to see if my Adobe Programs will run under VirtualBox and Vista, using Lilly. I had to use Vista since I have two spare CDs and because I misplaced my XP CD. :/

Jack and his mother from Into the Woods = Sour Grapes and Jackfruit Jam in another world, definitely Sour Grapes (as opposed to Stella Grapes)

At least that's the impression I get.

I forgot how to embed videos.

Thoughts, Sandy?
