The Spam Thread!
I just noticed how when receiving 60Hz HDMI, Quetzal III will list the raw resolution and refresh rate, but at 50Hz he only says 1080p 50Hz. I suppose this indicates that the primary reason 60Hz support is there is because of computers and the VESA specifications, which mandates 60Hz output as the standard for PCs.

I'll start off my latest post that Anna-Lena is currently working well. I discovered that she doesn't like either 50hz HDMI or USB drives larger than 8gb. Both give her a seizure. She is running the latest firmware from Sony's site, which I promptly updated when I acquired her last fall. However...

According to the firmware update guide from Sony's site, there was supposed to be a message that appears on the screen when the firmware update was complete. I made sure the firmware I got matched Anna-Lena perfectly, and proceeded to upgrade. But the end-of-update message never appeared, and instead her "Pic Off/Timer" LED turned on Amber, later changing to green. Figured that the firmware update was complete, I did as the instructions told; remove the USB drive from the back. Anna-Lena restarted and all was well... until I noticed her Serial Number on the support menu became all zeros. Fearing the firmware update didn't complete in full, I re-installed it and she came back fine, though without the serial number like previously. I also let her sit at the black screen for a little bit longer, but nothing was happening, so I removed the USB.

Then last night, out of the blue, I figured that maybe if I let the update sit for about an hour, maybe something should appear. So I did just that.

Nothing appeared after one hour, and once again, Anna-Lena came out just fine minus serial number.

Even though this proved I updated her firmware properly, I'm worried that re-installing the same firmware three times may endanger her long term health. She is working as well as before any of the firmware cycles, so maybe I'm worrying over nothing,

I hope.

Acquired Android HDMI stick #2. Same brand, same model as previous.

Will set it up later after my supper.

Don't get me started on the blackout in my area either. It's taking eons for Meralco's lackeys to restore power, and you know how much this is making me so disappointed.

Time to invest in several of those "power bricks," little battery devices that you charge from the mains or PC. When the power goes out, you can use these to charge your phone to a certain extent by just plugging it in to the power brick.

These things are all over the US, especially last Black Friday shopping season.

I don't have a power brick yet either (Tessa can go for up to 2 days without recharging if I don't make a call or use the internet too heavily), but I suppose it's about time I get one.

I need to get one too, since there have been times when the battery in Hazel or some of my media players ended up dying and I couldn't plug them in for charging.

Also, Anna-Lena's new HDMI stick is up and running. Smile

Yes, I know the weather widget has NYC, but if I had it set on my real town, the zip code would show.

This time, I won't mess with the settings, nor will I accept the firmware update that is being offered. I think the firmware update may have messed with the TV resolution settings since the option in the Settings menu didn't display a refresh rate. I didn't click on it in full though to stay safe. The firmware update also has "forfun" in the package name. Seriously. The stick already has Android 4.1.1 anyway and it runs fine as it does.

Problem: Most apps nowadays are written for at least 4.2.
