The AC adapter for my digital photo frame died a slow, painful death just as I woke up today. Screen was becoming distorted so I unplugged it for a while. Then, nothing.

Now I have to find an equivalent AC adapter, or buy a new photo frame altogether.

Sad

Edit: literally had to bust the adapter open because it used one of those evil tri-wing screws. (Don't do this at home kids , it can be dangerous).

When I did, I found out the reason why the adapter failed. One of the capacitors was bulging. Sad

Capacitor plague. It's a PITA especially if your motherboard or any other PC component ends up with that.

I know all too well about that thanks to good amounts of research on the subject.

That AC adapter is possibly the first case of capacitor plague that has occurred within my network of devices. It was a cheap photo frame I got from Family Dollar for only $20, marked down from around $40. I believe the frame itself would work again if I can source a proper AC adapter for it. I have come close (Herman's old adapter is exact voltage and polarity, but it can output up to 2000mA), but the connector size is either too large or too small.

If I can't source a replacement adapter, I guess I'll just get another photo frame. I was using it to display some BFTV screencaps when it failed today.

It hurts so ridiculously much. While consistent exercise is supposed to help, I am so clumsy and have been falling more than my usual.
Ouch, how come? Sad
I hope you will get better. No, you must get better, and you will get better!
Strain. My back is recovering... and yesterday I lost consciousness and had seizures all day. These are not my weeks.

Of course I'll get better.

Let me know how it compares to SimCity 4 when you have the time. I might consider getting it later.

Well, firstly, it's extremely simplified in some ways now. If you remember SimCity Societies, yeah. Road now automatically have water pipes and power lines underneath. No longer need to lay out separate pipes for water and electricity lines. However, there's now a new class of utilities- sewage. However, the sewage drains are automatically laid down with roads as well- you only need to install outflow pipes or treatment as necessary. Also, the density of the buildings is now controlled by the road type- this means that if you increase the road density, then the buildings will automatically become higher density as well. And on the topic of roads, the game has apparently done away with the grid system of SimCity2/3/4- now there's only guides. The game now allow true curved roads and roundabouts. Also, zones and other buildings now automatically snap to the roadside, so it's not possible to create a zone around a blank space and exploit the blank space with parks to increase the area aura.

Lastly, you need to be online to play- the game will only store data on EA's servers and not locally. EA claims that this is to enable for the multiplayer games like friends who all host their cities in the same region, and allow you to play from multiple PCs (i.e. you can start a game from your laptop at school or work, then go home, turn on your desktop and continue the same city. I admit tho, I abuse this option a lot). But yeah, we all know that their true reason is to discourage piracy and second hand game sales. Also, this means crazy long loading times if you're on slow Internet. My Yes quota ran out last night and it took a whole minute to load a city!

I changed my mind about being so generous in the last review. The goddamned servers are so full that I can hardly play at all.

DONT BUY IT! THIS ONLINE-ONLY BULLSHIT ALONG WITH THE IDIOTIC LACK OF SERVERS IN THE ASIA REGION (ONE SERVER ONLY! AND IT'S SHARED WITH AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND!) RENDERS THE GAME MOSTLY UNPLAYABLE! YOU'RE BETTER OFF STICKING TO SIMCITY 4!

You aren't the only one who has issues with SimCity 5.

And it's so bad, Amazon suspended downloads of the game!

There is nothing better than getting a game on DVD, and playing offline. But of course, companies have to ruin that by having features that are only suited for online-only play, having on-disc DLC you have to PAY for, or in this case, outright denying you to play at all unless you have an internet connection.

These online-only shenanigans are partly the reason why I stick to casual and retro games. Angry Birds has an online store where you can get things like the "Mighty Eagle" and Fruit Ninja has achievements, but at least you can play these games without those enhancements or a constant internet connection.
