Downloaded <redacted> onto my <redacted> because it's not available in Malaysia (see why I'm forced to hack gibsons now?). Running it through Monitest.

Tastes like Steve Burns.

So you can hack into an external computer system now?

I'm not sure that is a good idea, even if whatever it is that you got isn't available there.

Unless I am completely missing the point because I lack knowledge of the references you speak of in your secret message.

Where did you read that the shooting was blamed on Autism? From what I am reading, they only pointed out that the suspect had Aspergers, which is now considered Autism as well. Only time will tell us why he did what he did. It can't be Autism at all. It's not right to blame anything simply because you have autism, or Down Syndrome, or any other thing like that.

As for that message saying you would die...

Why say something like that?

You do have a loving caring family, don't you? You have lots of people who love you. There are people in this world who do love you.

There are always going to be idiots in life, ranging from simple people who harass you, to psychotic shooters like we saw today. That doesn't mean the world doesn't want you.

We all need to band together and mourn the great loss that happened today. Hell, even President Obama fought to keep his composure when he addressed the nation today. THAT shows us that the President himself is on the same page as everyone else mourning this disaster.

QFT, there's nothing more from me to say.

Well, actually, no hacking involved. All I did was lie about my credit card billing address, since these stores for some reason refuses non-US cards.

The gunman's estranged brother and someone on CNN are calling him autistic. The so-called expert on CNN said autistics "have something missing, the capacity to develop empathy". That is so wrong. I have too much empathy. There are some autistic people who don't have empathy; however, they can still have sympathy. Empathy is literally feeling other people's pain, usually their emotional pain. Sympathy is feeling concern and respect for other people. Empathy and sympathy are not synonyms. Empathy and sympathy shouldn't be treated as synonyms in the context of autism. Everyone can have sympathy. Sympathy is a choice. Lacking empathy by no means makes anyone predisposed to murder!

I have to always be on guard, because this crap affects my life. Some of my children are also autistic. I want a better world for them than a world where they are scapegoats.

That's why some people are getting cynical at the news. And in society in general.

Well, fate is an ironic prankster.

So I upgraded my aunt's PC to Ubuntu 12.10 and to my horror SiS video cards are now glitchy as hell on it. I swapped her Maxwell's board, CPU and RAM since S3 video chipsets are usually better supported in Ubuntu.

I gave her that 500w PSU as well, reasoning that it's better for her to have it since I'd want a new PSU to go with Clementine's rebuild anyway.

Well, I got a new PSU today because I was feeling like giving her existing board another chance. For equal measure, I also got her a new CMOS battery because, as I said before, NVidia's chipsets have a nasty habit of outright refusing to boot (i.e. playing dead) instead of booting and warning that the CMOS battery is low.

I changed the battery, installed the new PSU, and for good measure, erased the CMOS using the jumper.

She now boots fine.

I took a multimeter to the old CMOS battery and it was down to 2.8v. Maybe that's why she was refusing to boot- her CMOS battery was drained and NVidia's lousy design decision to make the board play dead instead of booting and then warning of low CMOS battery caused her to act this way.

Or it could be the PSU after all. My aunt complained that her PC suddenly decided to shut off by itself and refused to power back on until the mains is unplugged and left for a few minutes this afternoon. Though, strange. I though Xigmatek was a good brand, and this PSU is just a year old!

That's strangely what happened to my laptop a few months ago and I concluded that it was because of overheat. Not sure if I was right or not, though.

Random question:
If you play arcade First Person Shooting games, would you prefer a type where you must hide to dodge enemy attacks (e.g. Time Crisis series), or the type where enemy attacks cannot be avoided so you have to attack quickly and kill or stun the attacking enemy before the attack hits you (e.g. Virtua Cop series, House of The Dead series)?

I personally prefer the second type because I'm often paranoid while hiding, afraid that I would stand up at a wrong time and eat a bullet to my face right away (Which has happened quite often), and that hurts the enjoyment.

My real home, not my hometown. I'm missed. We're wanted back in time for Christmas.

All I can say is have a safe trip back home. Smile It's Winter, and even a moderate snowfall can make the roads slippery. Worst case scenario is a blizzard closing down the interstates or shutting down air travel.

Merry Christmas Prue! Smile (we really need to have some Christmas related emoticons installed here)
