Another update to Angry Birds Seasons came out, and I updated to see if it would fix the crashing issue.

Well, yes, it did. Game now starts up as it should.

But....

It's an older version from 2011!! It works, and I can play Christmas themed Angry Birds. Still, very strange to push out an old version.

Perhaps this means they are trying to fix whatever caused the startup crash issue?

Remember that Angry Birds resolution issue that Herman has? Well, Amazing Alex takes it to new extremes.

cpd2009 Wrote:But you mention Eve and Eva...does that mean you gone ahead and purchased a new iPad? I recall in the messages above that you have to pay some relative back a whole lot of money.
Well, I don't want to make such a big fuss about it (haven't even sent in the money!), but...

Lightning cable attached as proof that Eve is not last-gen. Also, Eva present as a comparison.

I had my uncle put one on pre-order, and as soon as he received it, Fed-Ex it up to me. Eve arrived at my aunt's place on Wednesday Afternoon, one day after my uncle received her from Apple Singapore and immediately Fed-Ex'd her to Malaysia.

However, I'm far from being the first in Malaysia to have a fourth gen iPad. Some forumers from LowYat.Net actually drove down to Singapore and waited in line to get one when Apple launched them on Friday. Driving to Singapore from the Klang Valley area is like driving from Winner to Madison- takes roughly four hours, five if you take frequent breaks at the R&R stops along the way. However, unlike the drive to Madison, one hour of the four is usually spent in the horrible traffic congestion at the Malaysia-Singapore customs checkpoint. It also costs roughly $100 in Malaysian money both ways for the turnpikes/tolls. So having one sent up is way less of a hassle and still guarantees me enough time to enjoy it before Apple brands it obsolete like they did with Eva. Waiting two to three months for the Malaysian launch means two months less off the bang of my buck (I understand from a local tabloid that Apple is being a douchebag and refusing to launch them in Malaysia just because Malaysia doesn't have 4G LTE yet, unlike Singapore and Thailand. Pretty mean and stupid if you ask me).

You really went through a lot to get Eva...but at least you are current with her. I worry though....will it be another year before iOS6 becomes obsolete after iOS7 comes out?

Though Android is going through many version changes like iOS, Android 2.3 is still supported by many apps, and Android 2.3 is about a year older than iOS5.

But enough about me rambling about Android. Instead, I will now focus on my possible future tablet and new games I have discovered.

Sometime today, I will put Herman on the backburner and make him a secondary tablet, and have two tablets ready like you do. This setup is good for one thing..... testing out Amazon AppStore updates before I sync them to Fluttershy. Another update to AB Seasons came out, which happens to be the very recent version that ended up crashing the first time around. Did this new update fix things? Nope. Still crashes on startup. Not even a Rovio logo. Fluttershy WON'T get this or any other AB updates until the startup crash is resolved, or if I ever hear back from Rovio. My support ticket has not even been picked up, and it's been a week! Oh, and one Amazing Alex update came out, and Amazing Alex is from Rovio as well. The update works fine. No startup crash. This leads me to believe that the AB update issue is with Amazon's build of said apps.

About Amazing Alex...it's some sort of physics puzzle game where you have to use certain objects (like shelves, books standing on end, balloons, etc) to move other objects like tennis balls into a basket or to have said balls knock down a cardboard box robot. Bonus points if you collect the three stars along the way.

Other games of note:

Where's My Water?
A game Herman only can run despite having the same GPU as Fluttershy. You have to channel water down to an open pipe near Swampy the Alligators shower tub so he can take his shower.

Cut the Rope
Almost ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin....you do have to cut a rope, but that rope holds a piece of candy, and you have to cut the ropes in a perfect order to get the candy down to a cute dragon-thingy named Om Nom.

Fruit Ninja
You have to slice fruit being thrown in the air by swiping your finger across the screen. One problem...Fluttershy's touch screen requires very firm touches in order to slice the said fruit. But I'm afraid to press very hard out of fear of damaging the touch screen layer or her LCD screen! Luckily, this is a game Herman can run decently...and the stylus helps slice the fruit well.

Lil' Flippers
Some neat swimming game with a dolphin I'm still trying to figure out. The game has a unique touch screen control system to move your fish up and down or to slide on waves.

Bouncy Mouse
A cute game where you have to launch your mouse off of small posts to grab cheese and make your way to an evil cat, which you have to hit.

Pinball HD
Okay, this game isn't in true HD on Fluttershy, but it runs well. I have the same game on Greta and Lilly too. Tongue

Other games I have are the three BabyFirst games (Shapes, VocabuLarry's Things That Go Storybook and game app related to book), Bejeweled, two Bejeweled clones, all five AB apps, though two don't work because of that crash issue.

As for a tablet upgrade on BF, it's possible if Menards or Kmart has a good reviewed tablet with a capacitive screen. Then again, last year, by the time I got to Menards, the Polaroid PMID700 was already sold out. It wasn't until January that I bought the PMID700 as a used store display model, complete in box.

Weekend made me tired instead of refreshing me. But at least I got to watch Wreck It Ralph. It was a good one.

Well, given how long Eva lasted (iOS3 to iOS5), I reckon Eve is good to iOS 8 at least. Hopefully that means the end of 2014 (if that ever happens...)

Exhibit A: ChaCha. 'Nuff said.

And of course, you may remember my beef with the developer of this game- dropping iOS5 support for no discernible reason. Which is unfair given that I paid for the game. Sure, I can play it again now that I have Eve, but it was uncalled for since I could not see anything that warrant dropping iOS 5 support when I loaded it up on Eve. And oh, all my progress is lost, since the only way you're going to have game backups on an iPad is via the cloud. Again, the only game I've seen so far that does save the player's progress on the cloud is Monopoly Hotels.

Now Chillingo somewhat admits that it was a mistake and claims that they're trying to reinstate iOS5 support to the game. Also, Ashens pointed me to his developer friend who also claims that they're also trying to put iOS5 support back (something about thinking that no one uses iOS5 anymore, only to receive a bunch of angry Twitter twits after dropping support I think).

I was wondering what Android version ChaCha ran. But, ChaCha is a phone though. I looked up the specs for the ChaCha, and it only has an ARMv6 CPU. Both my tablets are ARMv7 and sometimes apps don't support ARMv6 architectures. I also saw ChaCha does have a GPU, an Adreno 200.

Nearly every app I got for Fluttershy has Android 2.3 support as well as support for her particular processor. The only one that I have come across as being incompatible with her is "Atari's Greatest Hits", a collection of emulated Atari VCS (aka 2600) titles. What made it odd is the minimum requirement is Android 2.2. and Fluttershy is well above that requirement. Stranger still, Herman supports it apparently, maybe due to being a newer Android version, but both of my tablets have similar specs. That means that Fluttershy should be able to run this Atari collection. I didn't download it or buy it, but I noticed it while going though the Amazon AppStore via a web browser. Try finding it in the Amazon AppStore on her and it doesn't show up at all. The AppStore hides it from me.

Because of that, the AppStore will only display apps that are compatible with Fluttershy and Herman respectively. And the number of apps I am seeing is still quite a lot for Fluttershy.

I definitely want to see it.

For reference, we are moving back to "Kentuckiana" into the log cabin in January.

You certainly move around quite a lot Grapes! Smile I take it you don't like snow?

As for Wreck-It Ralph, I don't know if I will ever see it in a theater, but I do like video games, and that is what this movie is about.

Which again doesn't make sense. Google pushed Dalvik as a write-once-run-anywhere programming solution, to bridge the multiple possible platforms Android will run on.

This is even more weird since Google once said that Gingerbread and below are not meant to be used on tablets, only Honeycomb and above, and will outright refuse certification if company tries to get a tablet device with Gingerbread or older certified.

Once in awhile, I will see an app on the Amazon AppStore that states in the description "This app is not compatible with the LG Optimus". It's not an HTC ChaCha, but after googling, it's apparent that the reason why said apps don't support the LG Optimus is because it also runs an ARMv6 processor, and for some reason, the app was written for ARMv7 processors and above.

Does the MLPFIM game require Adobe AIR perhaps?

According to this thread, Adobe AIR requires an ARMv7 processor, which ChaCha doesn't have.

You can email Gamelofts technical team with the specifications of ChaCha, and maybe they can figure out why it won't run on it.
