Good thing the stuff on the card is still salvageable from a PC, but the phone now refuses to read the card.

Have you tried reformatting the card?

Not yet. So far, I've bought a cheap Kingston to replace it (Man, RM45. I bough the dying card for RM160 about 6 years ago...) and moved all my stuff across, but haven't tried reformatting. Will do it once I have some free time.

Weekend again, and all over Facebook I see photos of Malaysia demonstration or something like that. Care to explain, David? You don't have to if you don't want.

Well, the demonstration is about two things: The LYNAS rare earth processing plant near a town called Kuantan in the east coast (the last time we had an rare earth processing plant built in the country, the villagers around the area got cancer. It was forcefully shut down after a protest. That was in the 80s tho) and people don't want that new plant to open and want it torn down since it was built without their knowledge.

Second one, well, a lot of things. Mostly because the government's corruption- they're known to cheat in elections to stay in power (as it happens, Election is coming soon. Although rumors now is that the government will try to postpone it as long as they can). Aside from that, the protest is also against governmental racism (ie how they always side the "Moral/Religion NGOs" like the case of the recent Erykah Badu ban, the recent demand to ban Jewish products, and that the government is considering implementing Malay Supremacy)

Malay Supremacy is the worst. It's basically like Apartheid in South Africa except that instead of skin color it's religion. If it passes, Muslims will get additional benefits, while non-Muslims will be saddled with additional taxes, inability to get high-rank jobs in certain offices, and have a lot of rights taken away from them.

See now why I've been so cranky lately?

Which means that the Lemony Snicket books might end up getting banned in Malaysia as Daniel Handler is Jewish. Do I smell an antisemitic conspiracy nutcase movement in Malaysia or something?

Yeah, iirc it's spearheaded by that very same JAIS "Moral/Religion NGO" who caused the Erykah Badu ban because of that photo where she had a temporary tattoo of the Arabic word for "Allah" placed right next to a temporary tattoo of the Jewish word for "Yahweh". Iirc this anti-antisemitism idioticity started after they got done banning her. Apparently that ban wasn't enough for them.

Word has it that it will never pass parliament, but then, with these jerks, you'll never know, given the ridiculous premises of the Erykah Badu ban.

And I just found out that those assholes just put on a show-protest this afternoon to try to make the parliament accept the law to ban Jewish products. *sigh* those <censored string of cuss words>

If you think that's bad, they have even more embarassing idiocies in their history.

For example, back in the 90s, they actually got a law passed to censor Power Rangers for the most embarrassing reason in the world: They actually thought the word "morphing" is encouraging kids to do drugs, on the premise that morphing is pronounced almost the same way as "morphine". Epic fail!

They might as well also ban The Matrix, Kai's Power Goo and Stoik Morphman.

Why I've lost faith in the government. They're run by idiot hicks who bow to those "Religion/Moral NGOs" too much, regardless of how outlandish the NGOs' demands are.
