Well, I just had a rather interesting adventure.

I bought a cheapo 99cent auto-scan radio at a store on the nearby Indian Reservation. (I had to go with my parents today because I had a job interview at the college where they work). It's not too different from the multitude of other auto-scan radios you can find at dollar stores.

So I went and put batteries in and test it out. Works alright, but something smells funny....

Yep...a faint stream of smoke starts rising from said radio.

Im going to get it exchanged with another unit after work today. Hopefully that one will work and not smoke up like the first one. If it does...then I'm only out 99cents. I can then smash it with a hammer or something.

Yeah, we do have some of them auto-scan radios, but so far I haven't experienced any magic smoke from them.

And yep...second radio doesn't smoke up like the first one did. It works!

Damn you embassy security! So you're saying that from tomorrow onwards once my laptop is inside the work field I cannot bring it home until the project is finished?! Then say goodbye to it, because I will never bring it to work anymore, EVER!
