The Spam Thread!
I decided to go into the world of Android Firmware Hacking and gave Lexi an extreme makeover.

The firmware hack itself didn't involve any command line stuff or using the Android SDK...it was just packed together as a standard firmware ZIP file, which you just flash over the current firmware. So, essentially, it's a patched stock FW that fixes bugs and improves performance.

Because of that, Lexi is now slightly faster and more stable than the stock firmware! (example...the QuickPic image viewer constantly crashed with stock, and it doesn't with the alternate firmware)

Overall, I'm happy. Lexi is happy.

It helps that Android is a mostly open source platform, so stuff like this is possible.

EDIT: Well, Lexi runs Android 2.1 now thanks to the new firmware. I can use Dolphin Browser HD again!

Despite the holiday, I had to work, since grocery stores stay open for the first half of the day. Fortunately for me, my aunt was hosting dinner this year, and she pushed it back for me. Definitely something I'm thankful for!

BTW, The Hub's doing that Naughty or Nice thing again..

Apparently several sites have been htaccess-hacked to redirect to a malware site. 'Tis a good thing ours wasn't infected.

As for the naughty or nice thing, Discord got the finger from me. Joker, evil as he may be, at very least has been shown to have a good side. Discord is just plain evil.

Black Friday Results....
-Three Lil'kinz Webkinz plushies...a polar bear, seal, and husky pup.
-Camera tripod for my new "Cansonic" video camera and Fuji camera
-Christmas Garland for decorating my bedroom
-Two Sega Genesis games, "Altered Beast" and 'Ecco, the Tides of Time"
- DVD Lens Cleaner
- Popcorn tin with Polar Bears making a snowman
- a four disc box-set of classic Christmas specials like "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" and "A Year Without a Santa Claus"
- and a 1gb USB Flash Drive.

What is the 1gb USB flash drive for? It's for the item I didn't mention yet....the "Mistral Select" DVD Player.

This "Mistral Select" DVD player was one of the Menards BF Specials for $17. I was going to pass up on it until I saw something on the box...."USB Interface". That is a game changer!!

Sure enough, the player has a USB port on the back. You can plug in a USB flash drive full of AVI Divx/Xvid movies and play them from that flash drive. Rather unexpected for a $17 no-name player. As for the brand, "Mistral Select".....it sounds like a prescription drug brand to me. After doing some Googling, some "Mistral Select" items did show up....from an Australian shopping site. So is this some sort of Australian store brand or something? The AC cord is in standard American format.

I also noticed that upon starting the player for the first time, it was sending out a signal in PAL format! I had to use the NTSC/PAL button on the remote to set it straight. The player is probably region free as well. (there is mention of "Free zone" in the user manual.)

As for the old one from last year....rummage sale material! I still have that one's box and manual, same with two other DVD players that have tried to gain a spot as my secondary player.

Nothing to shout about. We all have one.

Heck, I ended up with two due to my persistence on acquiring Daisy Dreams.

Wow...that DVD player just keeps getting better and better.

Whenever you play a disc....any disc...it starts right at the beginning of the movie, or the first title of the disc, skipping all the FBI warnings and other usually unskippable portions.
