Today I decided for a variation and had my hair shaved bald.

To my surprise, my mother scolded me for that, saying that it is unsuitable for office workers. For me, as long as I get my job well done, appearance is not important. Of course I still wear proper clothes. I'm not like Bob Sadino.

Ah well, it will grow back eventually.

Even just seeing the first two episodes of season one would do it, I think.

Yeah, FiM is terrible about listing voice credits. It seems like every other new show The Hub brought on lists the guest voices, even ones animated by the same studio. But just in case it wasn't mentioned, that was John DeLancie as Discord, most well known as Q from Star Trek Next Generation. Which is essentially who Discord was.

cpd2009 Wrote:Is it ever okay to like a villain though?
Certainly! Even if you don't like the things he (or she) does, you can still find the character likable. In fact, some villains are popular because they're so terrible. Obviously, we shouldn't emulate villains, but in the realm of fiction, I think it's perfectly fine to enjoy a villain.

RAMChYLD Wrote:Well, you fit right in there with the other "bronies". Rainbow Dash is the most popular among them due to her attitude.
Actually, I don't think there's any one Most Popular pony out of the mane six, considering how large the fandom is. In fact, in an Equestria Daily Poll from June, Fluttershy won Favorite Pony, followed very closely by Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight Sparkle, with Applejack and Rarity (my personal favorite) trailing. Granted, there were more ponies than just the mane six on the poll, but the point still stands.

Thanks for your advice Evalana. I appreciate it. Smile

Well, Im going to try Safari as my default browser on Lilly. I seem to be running into problems with Opera, mainly with YouTube. For some reason, viewing YouTube videos for some reason makes the page unclickable, nor can you control the video playback. So far, Safari actually seems to be much faster than Opera.

I also have Firefox as well, and that browser seems to be pretty fast too.

You're not the only one who got scolded for getting a bald cut. I wanted to do the same thing for a while now, but each time I bring it up my mom or dad would scold me. Nevermind that the reason I want to cut bald was because I want to get to the root of my slight dandruff problem.

(And no, the Strawberry Shortcake shampoo I'm using didn't help).

Just... no. Q was playful, but at least he has a moral standard. Discord is a complete monster, full stop.

Actually, I was reflecting the recent poll held at MLPArena. You can see here that RD is by far the most popular, with almost 1/3 of voters casting in her favor.

That's....an interesting poll, all right. Probably won't get the guy the data he's looking for, but points for thinking outside the box.

From the Jayson Thiessen thing I linked previously:
Quote: Discord was a character straight off Lauren's pen, because apparently she'd been bingeing on Trek:TNG lately at the time that script got written. She decided to play him just like Q, because why the hell not? She'd originally planned to have Discord voiced by a De Lancie soundalike; but then during one of the meetings, someone (Jayson said it might well have been him) just said, "Why don't we just try to get the real guy?"
No, the two were not exactly the same, but the intention was there, hence why I linked to the Actor Allusion trope.

That was... not something I expected. I can see your mother's point. On the other hand, many men eventually bald anyway. I guess I don't think that a young man who happened to have his hair shaved is too inappropriate, though this is unexpected from you.

Heh, I joked about shaving my hair this week. I had put my hair in a bun-ponytail combination and Dee started annoying me* with hair styling suggestions, so I said, "Oh for the - You're making me want to cut my hair bald!"

I paused. "Well, not really," I continued. "It wouldn't work for me. I think I'd look like a leukemia patient."

* I am such a hypocrite, and her suggestions wouldn't have bothered me if they had come from other people.

This new Mac Mini is slow as molasses.

Yeah, I went for the RM1888/US$599 model. Intel claims that the Sandy Bridge GMA-HD3000 is good enough to run FPS games at HD, so I want to test the claim (worst comes, It'll act as a very expensive iPad sync box. I do not want to wait three hours every day to sync my iPad. I don't know why iTunes for Windows takes that long to sync the thing when on Mac OS X it only takes minutes, but I know that I don't want to wait that long to sync the thing). Although at 2GB of RAM, I'm sure a failure is guaranteed. I'll need to get more RAM first thing tomorrow.

Transferring the settings over was interesting. I was able to set up Bingo and Kiki III (henceforth referred to as Kiki) to do a Mac-to-Mac-over-Ethernet files and applications transfer. It took almost an hour, but turned out fine, mostly. Some drivers are considered obsolete and needs to be reinstalled (for example, the driver for TwilightSparkle, aka my HP OfficeJet 7500a, and Wingnut, aka my Okidata C3300N). To make things worse, there won't be a driver for Wingnut until December. Ironically, other stuff like the demo drivers for the Creative Soundblaster Extigy, the Rockfire PS2-to-USB gamepad adapter, and even some Hackintosh cruft got sent over. In the former two case, it was good since my Rockfire PS2-to-USB adapter and the SoundBlaster Extigy actually continued working in Lion, but the hackintosh cruft getting sent over broke audio on the thing until I figured it out and threw out the offending modules.

Another thing to note as interesting is it's dislike for the default KVM cables. With the original cables, the screen would have artifacting, keeps flickering off, and an odd pink hue. I was able to fabricate a custom connection to the KVM using a HDMI-to-DVI-D cable, a USB-to-miniUSB cable, and a pair of stereo 3.5mm cables. These provided me with crystal clear graphics, but the microphone is very soft tho. It was also able to use the USB mic of my webcam (a Logitech QuickCam IM/Connect), although the webcam itself doesn't work due to lack of drivers- the last supported driver for the camera is for Mac OS X 10.4.

I'm downloading Team Fortress 2 and the HP driver now, although it will probably take a while before this and the driver downloads. HP's website is unbelievably slow, but Steam is working fast.

Okay, Team Fortress 2. Surprisingly playable at true 1920x1080 with fluid frame rates when most of the settings are dialed down to medium and others left on high. Although as expected, the game was having frequent lags and disk thrashes, followed by a temporary frame drop, when new players come into view or when a player does something that invokes a custom sound or any custom objects. This is normally unseen unless you play on a mod server, which was what I decided to use for the test - the Ozzy Furiocity server #4, a VS server which allows a group of players to fight anyone, including Fluttershy (I frequent on the server ever since getting hooked on VS Saxton Hale tho. Yeah, I wasn't kidding when I said at MLPArena that two different Fluttershies, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash killed me multiple times and it wasn't a nightmare). I reckon most of the lag should go away once I upgrade the RAM of this baby.

So I guess Intel wasn't really kidding when they said that the chip is no sloutch.

Slow as molasses? To me, slow as molasses is when programs take more than 30 seconds to open and when file processing from programs like iMovie takes a really long time (ie, 20 minutes or more for just a 3 minute movie). Lilly opens programs rather quickly for a low-end Mac such as the Mini. But that is when I first start her up and open programs for the first time. Files from Audacity and iMovie process really quickly too.

I will agree that when multiple programs are open, such as Safari, Preview, and a memory hog like iMovie, Lilly can get slow but that is due to the minimum configuration of 2GB of RAM. I am going to get her a RAM upgrade soon too. With enough RAM, speed will increase, but Im torn as to whether to get her the 4gb kit or the 8gb kit.

As for the Intel HD Graphics 3000, I sort of knew it would run casual games well since that Mac Mini demo on YouTube showed said FPS running well. However, I was surprised at how well it handles 3D graphics. I got a game called "Pinball HD" from the App Store, and the game has a smooth framerate at high settings.

Oh, and you should have gone for the Apple Keyboard. It has the chiclet style keys, but it's nice and compact, much smaller than the keyboard you have connected to it. Tongue
