Spring is the enemy for weaklings like me. Eh, I get asthma attacks all year round. I'd kill for some spring weather, I've had enough of the equatorial weather.

Spring is the enemy for weaklings like me. I don't have asthma, but I have seasonal allergies consisting of runny nose, coughs and sneezes. It comes any time from the middle of August to the beginning of October. It arrives at a different time every year.
Preparing for two posts.... both showing off free things someone at a garage sale was giving away.

I remember having my skin swell red and itch badly upon eating stuff at a street-corner diner. Mum was pretty ticked off back then, and she had me take a cup of sugar for the itching to cool down.
Oh and how's the new banner I made? The new style's still WIP, and I may have to recolour some parts to go with the SSC theme, too.

First of the two items I got for free, and the one that is the least interesting.
It's a Sharp 19NP18D CRT TV. Shown below...
That "burn mark" in the lower right is the paint around the power/vol knob worn away.
The owner was moving, and she had this TV on offer. I didn't really need it, but since hardly anyone else would probably take it, I decided to. However, this story has a rather.... hard twist.
I was trying to get some stuff re-arranged so I could test this set, and like a true idiot, I set it on my bed. I have set things there before without many issues, including other TVs. However, this time, the TV slid off the bed, just missed hitting my arm hard, and hit the floor on it's right side. :/
The good news is the set still works, as evidenced with the pictures. The bad news is that there appears to be some slight shadow-mask damage as there is a slight color problems in the lower right, while the convergence in the upper right is a bit off. I don't know if the convergence was that way before impact since the rest of the screen is fine. A bit of the internal plastic bracket also popped out, and I had to unscrew the back to get the bracket back inside the TV.
It could have been much worse. I was able to see the set before I acquired it, and it had a decent picture that needed slight adjustments. It also had a pre-existing issue where thin lines would start appearing, and the entire picture would suffer vertical collapse at times, though the collapse hasn't occurred yet.
After making adjustments, it has a very nice picture and the convergence/color problems don't affect viewing overall. I may keep this set around just in case Nanouk starts having problems in the future. Being a CRT purist when it comes to retro games, it may be a good idea to start keeping a few of those around.

Today I noticed that my download speed decreased significantly. Tried contacting the ISP, and they said that all the systems were running normally. Tried switching the modem off and back on, still no change. Normal browsing seems unaffected, so this is mostly just mild annoyance for downloading large files. Though now I'm pretty curious what can be causing this.
By the way, anybody here familiar with Flash? It's not like I need help now, but I want to know if someday when I do need help, there'll be someone here I can rely on for advice.

Hm, could this be connected in some way to the sudden slowdown issue PLDT users, myself included, are suffering right now? I can barely even watch Youtube videos, for one.

Well, I've used Flash to make a few aimutations in the past. Given up on it tho- too expensive and Flash 5 doesn't run on anything newer than Win9x.

I think Flash 5 can run on XP at least. I had a very old version of Flash, I think either Flash 4 or 5, and I was able to get it installed on XP and at least start it. I didn't explore anything beyond that unfortunately, and I also lost my product key for my old Flash CD-ROM.
Oh, I can also see the new custom banner. Nice work!

Time to showcase my second free garage sale find...
This here is an Apple II-GS, complete with system, Apple RGB monitor, two working disk drives, and an old fashioned ImageWriter ribbon printer. This came from the same person's garage sale, where I also got that Sharp 19'' TV along with acquiring Connie at an earlier sale.
Not pictured (due to trying to avoid overloading the thread with pictures) is the whole boat-load of software. This Apple II-GS came with everything, from ancient Apple II ProDOS disks, to the Print Shop, and to various older games like Marble Madness, Wasteland, and Zork. There was one game that I could have done without... a Leisure Suit Larry game. For those not aware, Leisure Suit Larry is a series of erotic games for old computers like the II-GS or PC. I'm not a fan of such games, but I don't know what I will do with my particular copy. It is complete in box for what it's worth.
As for the name? Not sure. I have to think that over a bit.
