Alas, here is the keyboard I was hoping to exchange today, but PC store was closed so I have to wait until tomorrow.

I had two others, but one has really crappy range for the mouse, and the other's wireless receiver I broke, I think.

I have the opportunity to give this one last try. I went and bought a massive card of alkaline batteries on clearance today and I plan on testing the keyboard with fresh batteries. If that doesn't work, then exchange keyboard I shall.

any sign of a power switch on the keyboard?

Nope. Just the ID button and a wireless channel switch.

And... it works now. I put in fresh alkaline AA's and the keyboard paired with the receiver just fine. The four Maxell AA's it came with expired in Dec 2008 (with no corrosion), and the only other ones I had were in my digital camera.

I could say the fresh batteries fixed the issue, but I'm not ready to call it a success yet. Same expired AA's were used in the mouse, which paired and worked fine.

It might have been the batteries, but it could be something else too. I have to wait and see how this plays out.

Well, honestly, I'd blame the dodgy expired batteries and call it a day. Maybe the expired batteries in the mouse just got lucky in that they haven't lost their charge yet while those meant for the keyboard already has.

Remember that sleep issue Audrey had? (the one where she would go to sleep but never wake up requiring a full power cycle)

That issue appears to have gone now, and I believe I know what caused it. Initially, I used Lilly's HDMI to DVI adapter for Audrey's HDMI output for the HP S2031. Perhaps the BIOS/Windows ran into a handshake issue causing the freeze.

Currently, Audrey is directly connected to Anna-Lena via HDMI alone.

Bought another cheapo bluetooth keyboard for Eve. last one broke down pretty quick, got damaged while being carried around in my backpack.

also bought a Steelseries Stratus for Eve. Just so playing Sonic 2 won't be so painful...

If one of those Steelseries Stratus pads would pair with Windows 8.1 (or Windows in general) as a generic gamepad, then I would save up for one. I have a feeling they are locked down to iOS and select games. :/

As for the Bluetooth Keyboard, I checked the price of an official Apple keyboard and it's $70 USD. Quite expensive for a bluetooth keyboard.

Well, what can you expect from Apple, anyway?

I found out that Audrey works best with... Internet Explorer in Metro UI. Reason? IE's HTML5 video playback is unparlalleled to Adobe Flash. I'm watching a 1080p-60fps YouTube video right now, and it's amazing. No hiccups at all.

I could try it with Opera, but HTML5 video support widely varies between browsers.

I wouldn't recommend using a bluetooth keyboard as the only keyboard on a PC. Besides, why get an official Apple keyboard? Lots of cheapo knockoffs (which would probably work just as well if not for the cheapo feel) can be found on eBay for a fraction of the price.

Anyways, woke up with a nasty hangover today and apparently I'll be going to sleep with the same hangover.
