Stella Grapes Wrote:Thanks, guys, though I know the Apple store will try to sale me a new Mac and we just cannot afford one right now.
Hm. Well, I do know that Apple computers grants free laptops to disabled people. They did it for Ben last year and his laptop is absolutely amazing, but I have a feeling they would say I don't qualify becaaaaause - I come across as too accomplished when my life is reduced to achievements on paper. Well, worth a shot anyway. You won't know until you try.
Or you could just scour eBay and Amazon Marketplace or even Craigslist. Just beware of scams.
Or worst comes, settle for a cheap Mac Mini. You can pair that up with any existing display, keyboard and mouse you happen to own.
Stella Grapes Wrote:Hey, what was this you folks once told me about taking Ben's 2010 Mac's software (hardware? brain? heart? soul? some disc?) and sticking it into my older model? I heard from someone else that this would be impossible, for reasons I have forgotten. Something about that only working one time. Installation DVD. If your Mac's using an Intel CPU (in other words, it's a MacBook and not a PowerBook or iBook) you can use it to upgrade the Mac to a newer version of the OS and thus get to run newer software. But it's not useful if your Mac can't power up at all. And of course using it without first backing up your stuff will result in lost stuff, since it will wipe the hard drive in the process.

That would be so clunky and awkward, though better than nothing. "Look at my amazing Mini Mac with a giant PC desktop keyboard and a tiny Barbie mouse! Doesn't this not look stupid at all?"

James has been doing that for me because he doesn't want me to get scammed, never mind that I've bought things online before and have never gotten scammed. The downside to this chivalry is that James is not at all trusting of strangers, and he says all he has found online would not work.

In fact, if giant PC keyboards bother you, you can probably pick up a laptop sized PC keyboard for a fiver.
As for the screen, well, hook it up to the living room TV when you're using it and unplug it and keep it away when you aren't. It's just like a game console

There's a US$500 one going on eBay, and the auction ends in 25 minutes.

Stella Grapes Wrote:Angel, I have a bone to pick with you. How am I ever supposed to talk to you when you sign on at four in the morning, and my time zone is three hours ahead of yours? The only reason I can be here right now is because schools closed for floods, and I wouldn't be able to stay here for long anyway. You're not even here. Baaaah.
My sleep schedule is really icky. I slept at night last night, here is hoping I can do it again. I'm sorry about that.
I was hoping my sister would come over today, which didn't happen again. I'm sort of trying to find something to do right now, I feel like I should just take a nap since I'm full of some aches and pains, but I don't want to ruin me sleeping at night. Maybe I should just take some ibuprofen instead.
I'm really sorry about your computer. I hope you can get a new one soon and get a hold of your data.
It's fun to say berry! I berry talk all the day through!

Grapes, it's still extremely odd that the MacBook's batteries would end up exploding for no reason, unless if a short somehow developed inside the battery case, or a power surge. Was it running off the battery when it exploded, or was it plugged in to the charger block? And was the battery acting strange in the days or hours leading up to the explosion?
Sorry for all the questions about it, but I get kind of inquisitive when it comes to computer problems and possible solutions. I'm like that offline too, but I try to not be so inquisitive there.
I love foxes, especially the one in my avatar.

I'm very tired and a lot has happened. Cleopatra came home while I was having a very busy time hours off in another state yesterday. Today, Dee and I were up fixing a flooded garden in early morning before kids stopped us. "Hey! What are you mothers doing working on Mother's Day?"
Far too much happened yesterday for me to feel like explaining.
cpd2009, I don't know what happened. The computer was running, and then the batteries ceased to work. They had been falling apart for over a year, however.
Angel, I hope your sister visits you soon!
Me, I could use a Mother's Day Nap & Stress Reliever.

Just telling that I'm still alive and well, and still heavily addicted to Persona 4 and Patapon 3. No progression at all in either my fanfic or my drawings (Heh, I don't have any new ideas anyway).
