Happy Birthday Wendell!!
March 17th was his one year birthday....and he has served me well. I hope he continues to do so for several more years to come.
I still have to spend an entire day with him (as in, using him for my daily computing instead of Lilly), but that will start tonight. I still don't have an idea on what games I will play....perhaps a bit of "Super Collapse II" and "NeoPets: Codestone Quest".
I haven't had the ability to buy Wendell anything fancy for his birthday, so he just got another wireless mouse since I misplaced the tiny receiver of his normal one. It was Lilly's but the scroll wheel is getting a little glitchy. Lilly got a wired USB optical mouse as a replacement. No more batteries!
As for Chrysanthemum....I believe she may be too far gone to be useful. Her GPU issue has worsened a lot since I last used her (a couple months back) making Windows 8 Consumer Preview nearly unusable with the proper graphics drivers loaded. Constant BSODs and colored dots everywhere.
It's sad because if she didn't develop the GPU issue, she would still be in active service today. To me, continuing to use an older computer system has a charm, especially if it can do what a brand new cutting-edge system can do. Even if it doesn't, you can still do basic tasks on one and find workarounds for issues that do pop up.
That is what I plan on doing with Wendell....Im going to hang on to him until he simply can't serve me a day longer. I will not ever sit him on a bed like I stupidly did with Chrysanthemum. (that was back in 2006-2007 before she even got her name, and I believe that is one factor in her GPU becoming unstable) I plan on taking very good care of him to ensure his longevity.
Will he eventually be upgraded to Windows 8? Perhaps, but if I find out that I don't like Metro in Win8, he is sticking with Win7.
Well, that's all for me now. I typed this on Wendell.
(and yes, my desk really needs a good dusting in the corners and whatnot. We have a VERY dusty house)

Perhaps this might use a buffalax treatment, too:

You have the nerve to sue me Astro. I already paid off all my bills and return the card, and you claim you did not receive the card...
A phone call quickly resolved this, but if you dare bother me again, Astro, I will take you to court. You cancelled BBC Entertainment (which was my only source of Doctor Who, I never believed in downloading the show, and the File Sharing Internet Censorship block made things impossible anyway. Oh, AC Nielsen told you the channel wasn't popular? Isn't their parent company the very same Nielsen Media who was caught faking survey results in the US recently?), you and your salesman lied to me about upcoming channels, and now you claim the card never arrived even though the last time I checked, it has.
Screw you. I was once thinking of signing back up once you bring in the channels I want, but now I never will.

Isn't taking Astro to court just because if they bother you again a little extreme? It is true that they lied about bringing in certain channels and taking away BBCE for "Bio", but I believe that won't be enough grounds for a single-person lawsuit. You would have to get a class-action going, and for that to happen, you have to find other people who have been lied to by Astro first.
I still think just suing the pants off Astro is a bit too extreme. This was a mistake, and you have to be thankful for Astro for actually sorting this out over the phone and canceling the charge.
As for the BBCE/Neilsen thing, it is very possible that ratings were a factor in Astro not renewing the agreement with BBC Worldwide. Despite having high rated popular shows, the overall ratings of the channel could have possibly been lower than Astro was expecting. We have a similar situation here in the USA with that Oprah Winfrey Network. Outside of Oprah's high rated programming, the rest of the channel is struggling in the ratings.

According to this, BBCE apparently was rerunning shows quite a lot...that could indicate the channels low ratings. The article however does expose other weaknesses with Astro itself.
But anyway....I wouldn't sue Astro if I were you. The legal costs would add up if the court throws out your case, and there is a high chance they might.

I did no wrong, I terminated the service following the proper protocols ending with returning the CAM card to them.
As for the re-running thing, it's good, since I like watching reruns of my favorite episodes of shows over and over again, the same way as how I like to hide under the kitchen table when a show has villains. This is probably another sign that I have Aspergers, but ah.

Yeah, I see what you meant. Sue back for defamation/false charge. But I'm glad that it could be solved through a phone call. I'm not sure about how it works over there, but in Indonesia winning a court depends on how much you can bribe the court, and on whether your bribe is higher than your opponent or not. Honest judges still exist, but in 99% of the cases such judges are relocated to remote areas, while the big cities are infested by dishonest judges bathing in bribe money. Yeah, Indonesia is a crapsaccharine world and I don't know if it will ever improve.

I knew that they threatened to sue you. I just never brought it up in my post as to not make it repeat what you already said.
I am guilty of skimming posts, but I don't skim every single one. Just because I do that doesn't make it safe to assume I skim each post on this thread. I read your post in full, but I decided to leave the part about you being threatened with litigation out of my reply.

Well, sadly, I assure you that it's more or less the same over here. Though maybe it's 55% instead of 99%, but corruption does run rampant in Malaysia somewhat- why the MCMC/SKMM can up Internet Censorship that blocks just File Sharing just because a local pop star asks for it. If money didn't pass under the table, I don't see how.
Still...
And the grounds they want to sue me over is silly. All this over RM80. And that darn card isn't even worth a single cent since it's deactivated!

Well, to be completely honest about this, the fact that Astro was going to sue you actually slipped my mind. I was reminded of it when you replied to my message.
I don't intentionally lie to anyone, but still, this has me feeling somewhat terrible since I technically lied here. Sorry about that.
I would type a longer message, but I'm feeling very tired now. Need my sleep.

Just great. This Friday is national holiday but I still have to work, and there's no compensation.
