Think the PS3/PS4 and Xbox controllers have too many buttons? Take a look at this...

These are the controllers that go with the Intellivision Flashback. They are nearly identical to real Intellivision controllers except these ones are brand new. The keypad, the four fire buttons on the sides, and the press-in disc total 17 buttons. Modern controllers are nearly towards that amount of buttons, but for the early 80s, this was advanced stuff.
The controller on the left has a plastic overlay. Intellivision games normally came with these to slide over the keypad since they tried to be cutting edge and more advanced than the Atari 2600. The Flashback came with 20 overlays, 10 for each controller. Thus, you only get these for 10 of the 60 included games. If you want the rest, you have to buy the rest online which I plan to do.
How do you hold the thing? Well, you grasp the controller like a Wii remote. The way I do it is I use my left hand to hold the controller and control the fire buttons, and use my right hand to control the disc and the keypad options.
I'm still learning. And the ColecoVision Flashback controller is nearly similar! These things really do take time to learn how to hold properly as well as the multitude of options the keypad gives you.

I love foxes, especially the one in my avatar.
