Well, Violette's now stuck at the Asus service center- I drove her up shortly after she died.
I'm told that it'll take a week or two before I can have her back :/
It's frustrating. All my Asus motherboards have an Emergency Backup BIOS. If the main BIOS gets corrupted (and it will, given that the Chernobyl virus actually targets the BIOS and overwrites it with garbage), the system will boot the EBB and prompt for a USB stick or CD with a BIOS image to repair the system with.
Guess they thought this is not required because they think UEFI BIOSes are immune to these threats (pfft, yeah, right...)
